Research experiences in undergraduate mathematics develop critical thinking and intellectual independence, but relatively few students have the opportunity to participate. We will discuss the Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) teaching style, which can provide all students with a taste-of-research experience. The speaker will describe the fundamentals of IBL and how it is traditionally implemented in proof-based courses such as Introduction to Mathematical Proof, Topology, Algebra, and Number Theory. The speaker will also discuss their increasing usage in recent years in Calculus and Linear Algebra.
