John Meier, a science librarian in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library at Penn State, will talk about the growing number of science comics created not just for kids, but with educational goals. Scientists drawing comics or working with artists to create books that combine images with information to engage readers and convey complex ideas. These book-length comics now tackle DNA, physics, statistics, and evolution. He doesn't want to talk the whole time, but he will have some controversial assertions ready if there aren't many questions.
